Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor Fire Departments will be on hand for a fire safety demonstration on Sunday, July 20th at 6:30 PM as part of the weekly Tennis Juniors Ice Cream Social event at JPVIS. This event is open to all ages. The firefighters have prepared a fire safety and awareness demonstration. Fire trucks will be on hand so participants can see and touch the vehicles as well as the fire equipment that the firefighters use. Fire fighters will help participants better understand critical fire and life safety skills such as “How to use a fire extinguisher,” “How to check smoke and CO2 detectors,” and “How to have a safe campfire as well as wildfire prevention protocols.” They will outline and explain the key actions for which families should be prepared in an emergency. The firefighters will distribute educational materials to the participants.

To raise extra funds for firefighting equipment, these departments collect cans and bottles. They accept monetary donations so please bring cash to help them out as they replace older turnout suits or other safety equipment. The firefighters are there for us during an emergency, so let’s be there for them and thank them with donations, small and large.
