Where community comes to life

The Juniper Point Village Improvement Society (JPVIS) operates 4 charming red clay tennis courts, nestled among trees and cottages a few hundred yards from the ocean. The courts flourish with activities throughout the summer season, bringing the  community together.

The community here enjoy drop in open play, round robins, private, and group lessons, team matches and other social events at the courts.  The courts are open from mid June through late September, and are often the heart of activities throughout the summer.  A Tennis Director and Assistant Director run tennis programs and social activities for all ages from mid-June through August and offer a full service tennis pro shop adjacent to the courts.  The Directors also run weekly ice cream socials and activity nights for the kids.

Contact and Court Information

Courts are open from mid-June to late September. Hours of play are from 8:00 AM to sunset.  The courts are closed as needed for watering, typically at noon each day.

Previously scheduled tennis events will have priority over drop in use of the courts.

The tennis pro shop is located in the Director’s cottage adjacent to the courts and offers tennis balls, racquet repairs and sales, and tennis apparel.

Recreation and Tennis Director David Taylor

David Taylor, his wife Becky, and their 3 daughters are looking forward to another summer at  JPVIS.

Dave is a tennis teaching professional in the Concord/Manchester, New Hampshire area and the St. Paul's School Boys Varsity Tennis Coach. With over a decade of tennis teaching experience and a lifetime of tennis playing experience, Dave brings a knowledgeable and passionate style to the JPVIS tennis program.

Dave played collegiate tennis at the University of New Hampshire and was active with the USTA League team tennis after college. Dave has taught tennis at a variety of clubs both full-time and seasonally.  He is currently classified as an “Elite Professional” by the United States Professional Tennis  Association.

Key goals of the JPVIS tennis program, under Dave and Susan’s guidance, include fostering a true enjoyment of the game of tennis by creating fun, community oriented programs. We will help your game by developing strokes, tactical awareness, physical fitness, and coordination.

These goals will be accomplished through a combination of technical drills and fast-moving, game-based drills.  Private lessons, group clinics, and match play complete the recipe for maximizing everyone’s tennis experience!

Asst. Recreation and Tennis Director Susan Kirby

Susan is thrilled to be returning to JPVIS to help assist Dave with all tennis clinics and activities this summer. She will also be available for private lessons and small group lessons.

During the off-season Susan teaches at the Florida Yacht Club in Jacksonville, FL, where she has been on staff for 28 years. Experienced in teaching all levels and ages, Susan brings with her a wealth of knowledge she hopes to share with the JPVIS tennis members again this summer.
