2024 JPVIS Tennis/Recreation Update: August 5 - August 11 JPVIS Tennis Tournaments kept everyone sharp this week. Women’s Doubles - Lizzie and Phoebe Lewis were crowned Champions on Tuesday evening after a couple hours of round robin play and a final match against Becky Taylor and Cammie Beattie, our Finalists for 2024. Congratulations to all! Men’s Doubles - Azhar Meyer and Rick Barton beat Buck Lewis and Jackson Emery in the final set to win the title. Buck came off the court covered in red clay and had multiple scrapes, showing what it means to be in it to win it! Mixed Doubles - We started play on Thursday evening with 8 teams, under ominous skies. After a few rounds the rain became too heavy to continue. The finals are scheduled for Sunday evening at 5:00 pm with Sarah Barton and Azhar Meyer set to take on Dianne and Jackson Emery. Junior Match - Also on Thursday, our Junior Tennis Team played against BHYC, with a precise score this time of 41 games won by Juniper Point and 38 games won by BHYC. Congratulations to all for another great Boothbay competition! Tennis Exhibition/Pancake Breakfast - An early morning downpour made for an exhibition of pancake cooking and eating instead of tennis viewing. It was another amazing Juniper Point event of sharing a meal, conversation, and some labor! Thanks to all who participated! Boothbay Fire Department Demonstration and Ice Cream Social - This new event is happening on Sunday night, August 4, to help raise awareness of fire safety and raise money for Boothbay Fire! Hope to see you all there! Next up…Men’s Singles Tournament on Monday, August 5; Women’s Singles Tournament on Tuesday, August 6; Men’s Senior Singles Tournament on Wednesday, August 7.
